 Rules and Regulations 

CONTEST: Registration begins September 1, 2022

Contest ends January 15, 2023 at 12:00 AM

MEMBERSHIP AND REGISTRATION

1. You must harvest your animal in Walker, Madison, Grimes, Trinity, San Jacinto, Polk, or Montgomery County.

2. In store or mailed Registration is $30.00 per hunter, including youth.

3. Online Registration is $35.00 per hunter, including youth.

4. All participants must register for the Tu-Mile Big Buck Contest BEFORE harvesting their animal in order to be eligible for the contest. Absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS.

5. A hunter is considered registered for the Tu-Mile Big Buck Contest at the exact time that payment is received online, in person, or when mail is received.

6. All registered hunters are eligible to win only Q!lg category per animal harvested. Additional animals are eligible to qualify the hunter in other categories. A hunter can enter as many animals as they want but they must have paid a registration fee for each animal entered.

7. All registered hunters must comply with the rules and regulations set forth by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

8. Hunter must have a valid Texas hunting license.

SCORING

1. Scoring will be done at Walker County Ace Hardware, 1006 11th Street, in Huntsville. Monday 8:00 AM-12:00 Noon

Tuesday thru Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Saturday 8:00 AM-4:00 PM

2. In the event that a registered hunter is unable to bring their animal to the Tu-Mile/Walker County Ace Hardware headquarters to be scored, scoresheets from a certified TBGA scorer will be accepted. PLEASE SEND IN YOUR PAPERWORK IN A TIMELY MANNER. 

SCORESHEETS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE CONTEST HAS ENDED ON January 15, 2023 at 12:00 AM.

3. In the event that a faxed or emailed scoresheet is questionable, Tu-Mile Sportsmen's Association reserves the right to request that the hunter's deer be brought to the Tu­ Mile/Walker County Ace Hardware headquarters to be re-scored by one of our own scorers.

4. In the event that a harvested animal is in question, Landowners or Biologists may be asked to sign and provide verification that the deer entered in the Tu-Mile Big Buck Contest is a native whitetail deer, was not at any time involved in a breeding program, or subsequently released.

5. All scoresheets and photographs of registered entries and their animal become property of the Tu-Mile Sportsmen's Association Big Buck Contest, and may be used for future promotions and/or advertisements.

WINNERS

1. At the end of the contest, hunters will be declared winners once all score sheets and categories have been reviewed and finalized. An announcement will be made via website/social media that the contest has been finalized and which hunter is declared a winner.

2. Tu-Mile Sportsmen's Association reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value.

3. All shipping cost will be paid by the winner in the event they cannot attend the Tu-Mile Big Buck Contest award ceremony. We strongly encourage all winners to attend the award ceremony or have someone there to accept on their behalf.

4. Winners have 90 days from the date of the award ceremony to pick up their prizes.

5. At the discretion of the contest officials, any participant may be required to take a polygraph test if a possible rule violation is suspected.

CONTEST

1 Points must be a minimum of one inch {1"} in length.

2. The spread is determined by measuring the inside width of the main beams.

3. Trapped, penned, brood, or tagged bucks are not eligible for High Fence, Low Fence, Archery, Ladies, County, or Youth Divisions. A buck with a tattoo or an ear piercing from a tag are not eligible.

4. Skull mounts will not be accepted.

5. In the event of a tie, Tu-Mile Sportsmen's Association will provide prizes for each entry.

DIVISIONS

Youth Division is for youth 15 and younger as of September 1, 2022. All youth participants will automatically be register for a special youth gun drawing. A male and a female winner will be declared in each award category. Buck must be taken under low fence.

Youth Big Buck-largest gross scoring buck submitted by a youth

Youth First Buck-largest gross scoring buck that is the youth's first harvestedbuck

Archery Division is open to any age hunter that harvest an animal with a compound bow or a re-curve bow Any animal harvested with a crossbow will be placed in the rifle division. Buck must be taken on low fence property.

Archery-Largest Buck-the highest gross scoring buck taken with a bow

Hiqh Fence Division is open to any hunter harvesting a deer by rifle or bow on property surrounded by a high fence. The buck is not eligible if it was trapped, penned, a brood sire, or has a tattoo or ear piercing from a breeder tag. The buck must have been born and matured on the property it is harvested from.

High Fence-Largest Buck-the highest gross scoring buck taken under high fence

Low Fence Division is open to any hunter, male or female, harvesting a deer by rifle on any property that is not surrounded by a high fence.

Low Fence-Largest Buck-the highest gross scoring buck taken under low fence 

Best 8-Point Buck-the highest gross scoring 8-point buck taken under low fence 

Best 10-Point Buck-the highest gross scoring 10-point buck taken under low fence

Ladies Division; is open to any female hunter over the age of 16, as of September 1, 2022 And harvest a deer by rifle or bow on property that is not surrounded by a high fence.

County Division is open to all hunters, male or female, that hunt in Walker, Grimes, Madison, Trinity, San Jacinto, Polk, or Montgomery County. Winner will be the hunter that harvest the highest gross scoring buck in each county. 

These winners may also win another Division with the same buck.

PRIZES

1. All registered hunters will receive a Tu-Mile Big Buck Contest hat at the time of registration.

2. All division winners

- will receive prizes as provided with the registration packet

3. Every hunter that registers will be entered in a special drawing for the Grand prize- a Polaris 4-wheeler

4. Winner will be paid for the top three places in the Archery, High Fence, Low Fence (all three Sub- divisions) and Ladies Division.

First Place-$500.00

Second Place-$300.00

Third Place-$200.00

County winners will receive $500.00 each

The overall Largest buck taken on low fence property will receive $1000.

The five youth winners will all receive a Ruger American .243 with a Vortex scope.
